HTML Extensions

Some extensions can be made to HTML to provide improved annotation support.

<ANNOTATION>

Somebody suggested adding an <ANNOTATION> tag to mark annotations that have been added to a document.

URL Pattern Search

An extension to URL syntax would allow pointers into the middle of documents without requiring predefined anchor points. For example,

	    <A HREF="html.html##URL_Pattern_Search">

could be used to directly scroll to the beginning of this paragraph.

Change Bar Support

In order to support versioning it is nice to be able to see what text changed from version to version.

Strike-through

In order to support versioning it is nice to be able to see deleted text using a strike-through font.
