This is a portion of my CNC motion control board assembly documentation.

CNC Controller Motion Board PCB Soldering (Rev. D)

Solder
Solder in the various connectors and IC sockets. The holes for the DIN5 connectors required some careful soldering of bridge wires on the bottom to compensate for the fact that the holes were in the wrong places. I also soldered in the three linear voltage regulators and some micellaneous components on the right of the board.
Next I soldered in the miscellaneous capacitors and resistors. The .51 current sense resistors are installed vertically. (I did not do such a hot job of centering the board in the view finder; so sue me!)
The Schottky diodes are installed vertically. The big capacitors are mounted flush.
The only components left to be installed are the L298's and their associated heat sinks.
